
Charles H. Phillips
Charles H. “Chuck” Phillips, 80, formerly of Randolph, died Jan. 31, 2005. He was born Aug. 23, 1924, in Frank, Penna., the son of Charles and Ella (Charlesworth) Phillips. He graduated from Penn High School in 1942, then went into the U.S. Army, where he served as a high speed radio operator during World War II and the Korean War.
He was a barber and owned his own shop in Pittsburgh, Penna. He moved to Hallingdale, Fla., in 1968, working for the U.S. Postal Service, where he met June (Dietz) Vezzetti. They were married in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. in 1975, and moved to Randolph in 1976, where they lived until moving to Braintree in 1986.
After retirement, he was a barber at Ken’s Barbershop, and worked for the Rosebud Florist and Day Funeral Home, all in Randolph. He was a volunteer at Gifford Medical Center and served the town of Braintree on the selectboard 1994–97, as Fuel Coordinator 1994–2001, on the Zoning Board in 1997, as Zoning Administrator 1997–2001, and as Planning Commissioner 1998–2001.
He enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, walking, and going to tag sales. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Knights of Columbus (Fourth Degree), and Saints Donatian and Rogatian Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, June Phillips of Braintree; five sons, Richard Phillips
of Harmony, Penna., Charles Phillips of Melbourne, Fla., Scott Phillips and Charles
Vezzetti of Palisades, N.Y., and Chris Vezzetti of Chelsea; four daughters, Diane
Williams of Pittsburgh, Penna., Kathy Phillips of Tenn., Ruth Vezzetti of Tappan,
N.Y., and Elena Vezzetti of Madison, Conn.; 19 grandchildren; six great-
